Day 12: I'd Love to introduce you to Caga Tío

I will never leave you in the dark, especially when it comes to the freaky practices of foreign nations. For all the wild traditions that the Spanish of Catalonia hold on Christmas, there is none greater and more wild than the visit to the Caga Tío.

I so meticulously plotted over my personal experience of Christmas that I forgot to mention the most fascinatingly grotesque tradition of the Caga Tío.

The tradition is, no doubt, strange. Apparently, the Caga Tío is hybrid of our Christmas tree (or Chanukah's bush, depending on your faith) which sits like a hen over the Christmas presents, and a Yule log, the ceremonial fire that is fed throughout the month of December starting (now don´t hold me to this fact) on the 8th. By fed, I mean spruced up with aromatic sprigs and various other scraps that smell pleasant when burned. The log is then burned for Christmas.

DAY 11: 'Twas Noche Buena

Shout out to all the babies in baby land.

Especially to the first person to follow me, La Cris!!! Lots of love to you!

And YES, I am talking about the baby, Jesus Christ himself. And you, of course.

To start off, I want to send love to all of my friends and family. I love you guys!

I´ve begun to worry, actually, because I have lost contact with a few VIPs from the inner circle. Please, if you see any of these beautiful girls, please let them know they are loved:

Day 10: Ayyyoooooo fo.....

Wow, when I find myself eating chocolate and playing bejeweled on a Friday night and listening to Maná´s Labios Compartidos, I realize the pure joy of mindless activities. And then I realize I have a blog to write so now I come to you.

While HDP sleeps and the jewels click away, I ponder Chinese food dish.

Day 9: Buddha

EDITORIAL NOTES

If you want to leave a comment, I would kiss you if you were leaving it in the same room as me. And even if you don´t get a kiss, if you have a GMAIL/google account you can easily leave a comment, it take less one minutes to simply sign in and leave it. Would roll on the ground with joy to hear from you and if you FOLLOW THE BLOG you´re getting something extra special for christmas (think: stripper hidden within the pecan pie).

AND LISTEN TO THE NEW SONG BELLOW and leave comment in soundcloud if you have no life and want yet another account on the internet (or if you are a music junky)

OK :)

Now some kitchy-katchy up-pee.....

Day 8: Alive, and Short, and Sweet

Tearing down the format barries, this is an IN YOUR FACE post.

Here´s a silly photo!

That´s HDP and my buddy Beaver who stayed with us on his way out of Barcelona.

Day 7: Night Time in Born Barrio +

THINGS ABOUT THE WEEK

Last weekend we went to this hyper posh bar at the Vela, a sector of the W Hotels located at the end of the Barceloneta beach. It´s supposedly shaped like a "vela," a ship´s sail. Anyhow, after riding the elevator up to the 26th floor we had this crazy view of all of the beach front of Barcelona while we ran around and drank Watermelon sumpin-sumpin and dangerous mojitos on the tab of "Sheridona," our imaginary friend. The music was loud, upbeat and danceable, the people a bit out of our price range and the general atmosphere verging on belligerent.

Day 6: San Francisco Comes to Barcelona (2009.11.14)

It would be great if, but it is necessary to admit, the life of a blogger is not all Julie and Julia. That is to say, time for less regimental bloggers as myself, instead of being a cut and dry, cute little day after day line drawn across the screen as we witness it to be created for Amy Adams as Julia, tends to pool in an amorphous web of past situations and present reactions. Then, to take the convoluted twists and twirls between past and present, I then have the power to post whatever was once the present whenever I feel like it, which is what I am doing today. Thus I leave you with this caveat and a date within the title of this post to explain that the publishing date of this experience, while connected to the original situation, has stretched a long cord in the time frame of this cyber diary.

DAY 5: The Day the Blog Stood Still

This is just funny, I still havn´t taken apart my photos from recent and I want to watch a movie instead of writing about the life of my alter-ego.

Hope you enjoy black humor.

Love you guys!

Day 4: Surf, Turf and Home cookin´

EYES

Champagnaría:

If it´s not your favorite place in the world, you are either clinically insane or Mormon. This place, snuggling up right behind the Barceloneta, a quick jaunt from the beach, is something like a Hollywood premier taking place in the Willits Noyo. That is to say, La Champangaría is something of a marvel of its location in the North of Spain. HPD might describe it as ´a very Spanish bar,´ and what he means by that is that is very much something out of Andalucía.

Tapas are said to have originated in Andalucía, the southern part of Spain, where one can but a small beer for one euro and get a tapa, something like getting peanuts or popcorn at a U.S. bar, but the tapa is a huge bocadillo (a hamburger-like Spanish sandwich sometimes shaped like a burger), larger than a Whopper, with your drink, no charge. They´ve somehow perfected the idea of food amb[Catalán for with] drink in this country to a science.

Day 3: Second Day of the Rest of My Life

IMAGE

I share now with you briefly. What does it mean to have a daily blog? Well, if I don´t want to go blind, I suppose it means lightly touching down every day to say hello. So I say hello. And I would also like to share a photo of the Barceloneta which I left out of the last series. It was quite a beautiful sunset:

DAY 2: The First Day of the Rest of Our Lives

THE GALLERY

It´s a beautiful day in the neighborhood. The sweet sun shines quite bright. So let´s make this a quicky...

The weekend was just pleasant as hell. HDP and I hit up la playa [the beach] days in a row. The fall weather leaves a little steamy but never too hot. Nos bañamos en el mar [We got to swim in the sea]. Here you have HDP himself in the Barceloneta, BCN´s playa numero uno (at least in sea and number of tourists):

To the left you can see the Marsel, the new W Hotel which has finished construction since my last life in Barcelona. Behind HDP is the feiry tower and to the right we had all the funny beach bars.

Day 1: A sample of what your life might be like if you were me right now.

Hello ladies and gents,

Welcome to El Paso Salvaje, a loose collection of days in my life. Who am I? El Muñeco de Oro.

So you are probably wondering why you would want to read a blog about me. Well, think of it this way: it's like reading a blog about Madonna, the pop star who shines in success while beaing crushed by fame, yet instead of Madonna, you have me, El Muñeco de Oro. Again, who am I? Well, let me answer that question of yours with another question: who is Madonna?

And that's what we're all here to figure out...
